How to create an optimal space for remote work

In this article, we explain:

Remote work is completely in vogue. More and more entrepreneurs are choosing to work from home, which is super comfortable and allows you to improve family balance. But, how to create an optimal space for remote work? Let’s see it below.

The keys to creating an ideal home office for remote work

If you plan to work remotely and want to have an ideal home office, here’s what you need to consider to get it right:

Minimum size

The ideal is for an office to have at least 6-8 m2 of space. Usually, the smallest room in the house is designated as the office.

If you can’t dedicate an entire room just for the office, you can allocate a small corner of your main room or living room.

In that case, you will need at least 3 square meters for the desk and chair, leaving some margin around.

Natural light or good artificial light

Natural light is key for an office.

If you work on the computer, it’s important to choose an orientation where the sun does not shine directly on the screen, as it could be very annoying. You can also use translucent blinds.

What if the office is interior or facing a patio? If there is no natural light or it is very scarce, you can invest in good artificial light that simulates natural light. This is around 4,500-6000K.

Besides the main light, you can also add a small lamp or desk light.

Desk with adjustable legs

For ergonomics, you can invest in a conventional desk or one with adjustable legs. It’s a trend that is very popular and allows you to work sitting or standing. Ideal if you are at home all day.

However, most users use regular desks and simply adjust the height of the chair.

Ergonomic chair

The work chair should also be ergonomic. It should be comfortable, practical, with armrests and with or without wheels depending on your preferences.

Screen at eye level

The computer screen should be at eye level. This means that your eyes should be pointing to the middle of the screen approximately. This is ideal for ergonomics.

Ergonomic mouse and keyboard

You should also invest in a good mouse and a good keyboard. That is, they should be comfortable to use for at least 8 hours a day and not give you carpal tunnel syndrome.

Outlets

Always have a good power strip on hand to connect everything you need. It’s better if it has surge protection, to prevent any equipment from getting damaged.

Decoration

Decoration is also very important in an office, because it will make you feel more motivated when working. Therefore, try to incorporate pictures, natural plants and other decorations that inspire you.

We hope you achieve your perfect office and feel more motivated for remote work!
